Early spider Orchid (study 1)

Early spider orchids only grow I the South of Britain and are now a critically endangered species in the wild, to see this wonderful specimen you must travel. Rebecca currently grows these wonderful species in her garden in the North east and has carefully hurtled them into the painting you see today, this artwork is done in life size with acrylic paint, each head is around 4cm and the overall image is A5. Working small is always a challenge, but I thoroughly enjoyed taking my time and capturing the small details these wonderful flowers have to offer.

All paintings began from a seed or bulb and have been carefully nurtured into references for truly one off works of art.
